Jonathan Rochkind

Jonathan Rochkind is responsible for designing, analyzing, and reporting research on a variety of topics including education, social issues, perceptions of racial and ethnic identity, and U.S. foreign policy. He is the primary author of the Lessons Learned series, a look at the training and work environment of first-year teachers nationwide, and a lead author of the Confidence in Foreign Policy Index, which regularly tracks attitudes on more than 110 items covering nearly all major aspects of foreign policy. His recent work includes an upcoming report on how parents see the importance of math and science in their children’s lives, and one on the differences in priorities of people who live in metropolitan areas and those who live in a more rural locale.

He has given numerous presentations on Public Agenda's research, including "Indiana’s Future: Equity, Excellence and Education for Economic Success" for the Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning, on November 2007, as well as his more recent presentation for the Eastern Tennessee State University Conference, "Confronting the Math and Science Challenge: Examining the Issues and Gaining Insights on How Others are Addressing STEM Education," in May 2008.

Jonathan was previously the research director at Princeton Data Source, a subsidiary of Princeton Survey Research Associates, where he helped design methodologies for the Pew Research Center, The Kaiser Family Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and others. He also was employed at Abt Associates, where he worked on the National Immunization Study and a longitudinal study on the prevalence and incidence of chronic fatigue syndrome in Wichita, Kansas, both for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
